Having formed in 1888, Bath Photographic Society (BPS) prides itself on being one of the oldest photographic societies in the UK. Whatever your interests and goals in photography we aim to facilitate these with like minded enthusiasts in a supportive group. We provide opportunities to develop your skills, share your photos and explore a wide range of photography genres, all in an environment of creative inspiration.
Come and join us and let us help take your photography to the next level.
Our weekly meetings are varied and vibrant with something for everyone all with the aim to promote the art of photography.
These meetings provide the opportunity to share ideas with people who have similar interests, make friends, learn more about photography and most importantly to have fun.
Each year we run an internal competition league where external judges will cast their eye over your photos.
This is an excellent opportunity to hear and learn from respected judges and is one of the best ways of developing your photography skills.
Plus there's a healthy element of friendly competition between members!
Throughout the year the we invite a number of external speakers, many of whom are professional photographers from a wide range of genres.
We also have presentations from members on topics covering everything from noise reduction to creative lighting.
Plus we provide opportunities for you to gain feedback on your work and get support on how to get qualifications for the Royal Photographic Society.
We host several exhibitions including the Bristol Salon of Photography, and the Western Counties Photographic Federation travelling exhibition, which often include work by our members.
There are also opportunities for you to exhibit your work. We have an annual exhibition held at St Michaels Church, Bath and a permanent exhibition at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
